DANIEL J. BURNS, CFA
Dan collaborates with the Avalon team to construct and manage our clients' portfolios. He is responsible for identifying new investment opportunities as well as conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis for the investment committee. Dan also monitors Avalon’s top holdings.
Dan joined Avalon in 2011 and has worked in the financial services industry for nearly 2 decades, starting his career in public accounting in 1999. He was certified as a Certified Public Accountant in 2005, while working with Deloitte & Touche in San Francisco, where he provided tax advice to Fortune 500 corporations, private equity groups, hedge funds and high net worth individuals. He transitioned into investment management in 2008, as an equity research analyst with Beekman Capital, an institutional growth stock manager based in Santa Fe. Dan is a former Treasurer of the St. Vincent Hospital Foundation and serves on the Foundation’s finance committee. He earned an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas in Austin as well as two Bachelor of Arts degrees, in Economics and Spanish, from the University of California - Davis. He is a member of the CFA Institute.
