Julia is committed to resolving the broadest variety of topics on behalf of Avalon’s clients. She takes a proactive
approach, and as head of Avalon’s client services team, offers options that simplify, clarify and improve outcomes.
Her ability to collaborate and her creative approach to projects are reflected in the variety of transactions with which clients entrust her: from reviewing and mapping out estate plans to assisting with the transfer of real estate, to negotiating the sale of fine art, to implementing complex philanthropic strategies.
Before joining Avalon, Julia practiced estate planning and real estate law in Seattle and then was a managing partner of the law firm of Sutin, Thayer & Browne when she returned to Santa Fe. She serves on the Board of Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, is the former Chair of the Board of the New Mexico Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, has been on the faculty of the National Business Institute and is a graduate of Leadership New Mexico. Julia earned her bachelor’s and law degrees from Willamette University and is a member of the New Mexico and Washington State Bars.
